Scarlet and Violet 151 Booster Bundle Review
A not-insignificant portion of the Pokemon TCG fanbase consists of people who are fans of the first generation. The Pokemon Company isn’t blind to this fact, and often tailors products towards these buyers. This is evident in Scarlet & Violet-151, a special expansion that gives the first 151 Pokemon the powerhouse treatment they deserve. Keep reading the article below to learn more about Pokemon 151 Booster Bundle.

The set will feature all the original 151 Pokemon of the Kanto region, reimagined in Paldea. These cards will be interesting for a number of reasons, including being numbered in Dex order rather than by type. Additionally, some cards will use more than one zone—for example, Alakazam ex can attack from the Bench, or even off its own turn, making it a powerful draw engine.
Lastly, several Pokemon will be boosted with new foil art. This includes the Pikachu Illustration Rare and Erika’s Invitation Special Illustration Rare, both of which were previously only available in Japan. With these cards and more to discover, Scarlet & Violet-151 is sure to be the most popular special expansion of 2023. It hits shelves worldwide on September 22, 2023. This Bundle includes four booster packs of the new special expansion and a nine-pocket binder to help you keep track of your collection.
Bulbasaur
The quadruped green Pokemon Bulbasaur is an essential part of any starting team, and its popularity is often tied to its role in the Pokémon anime. It’s one of the first Pokemon Ash Ketchum gets, and it subsequently appears in many episodes.
Unlike other starter Pokemon, Bulbasaur has access to a strong move from the get-go. Its Vine Whip makes quick work of Brock’s Geodude and Onix in Pewter City, as well as Misty’s Staryu and Starmie in Cerulean City. It also offers a type advantage against gym trainers, which is incredibly valuable in the early game.
Bulbasaur’s other key feature is its even spread of stats across HP, attack, defense, special attack, and special defense. This ensures that it can play a variety of battle roles and can handle multiple kinds of threats.
The final reason Bulbasaur is an excellent choice is its ability to learn the HM “Cut.” This allows it to take down large trees that would otherwise be impossible to break down with regular attacks alone. It’s also a very important move for farming, as it can help you quickly level up your Grass-type Pokemon.
Charmander
Charmander is a Fire-type Pokemon that can evolve into Charizard. It is a lizard-like creature that has an orange body with a light yellow underbelly and a red flame on its tail. It is capable of breathing fire and can use it to heat its environment or to scare away enemies. Its flame can also be used to show how healthy or sick a Pokémon is; a glowing flame indicates a vibrant, healthy creature, while a flickering, dim flame shows that it is in poor health.
Like all starter Pokemon, Charmander has a number of advantages and disadvantages. For instance, it is weak against water-type Pokemon as their water attacks put out its fire. Additionally, it is at a disadvantage against ground-type Pokemon because of its slow attack speed.
In battle, Charmander can benefit from its ability to Blaze, a move that increases the damage of its fire attacks if it is at low health. It can also utilize its tail flame to signal its emotions; a flickering flame indicates a frightened or surprised creature, while a brightly burning one signifies anger. Its flame can also be used to defend itself; by crouching and waving its tail, Charmander can protect itself from enemy attacks.
Squirtle
A small, cute Water-type Pokemon, Squirtle is one of the Kanto region’s starter Pokémon. It is a favorite among Trainers because of its cuteness, but it puts on a brave face and fights back when danger comes. It retreats into its shell and squirts out a high-pressure burst of water, which is a bit less adorable but still effective. This Pokemon can also use Rain Dish, which refills 1/16th of its health every turn during rain.
Its rounded shape and grooved surface minimize resistance in water, allowing it to move at high speeds. Despite its small size, Squirtle is a good swimmer and can battle bigger foes by ramming them into walls and other obstacles. This Pokemon can learn Skull Bash, a powerful Water-type move that damages and confuses its opponents.
This plushie brings out Squirtle’s cheeky personality, complete with a wink, while capturing its iconic in-game design. It’s the perfect addition to any collection!
Venusaur
The 151 Booster Bundle brings back all the original Pokemon with updated cards and stunning new Illustration Rare art. Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle all got their own beautiful new designs, while Jigglypuff and Haunter get their first full-art cards since XY.
Venusaur is the king of the Grass-types, boasting excellent damage and decent survivability. Its stall build focuses on thrashing enemies from a distance with Sludge Bomb and Solar Beam, which are both great at dealing massive damage for their cost. It can also benefit from the use of Held Items like Shell Bell and Wise Glasses to increase its attack damage, basic attack speed, and critical hit rates/damage.
The EVs are simple and maximize Special Attack and Speed, while Timid is the primary nature to allow it to outspeed Adamant Hitmonlee and KO it with Leaf Storm. Muscle Band can be replaced with Rapid-Fire Scarf to greatly improve Venusaur’s power, which is needed for its boosted attacks of Petal Dance and Giga Drain. A Boost Emblem loadout of 6 Green and 7 Black maximizes Venusaur’s damage output. A Giga Drain can be used to keep itself healthy, while a Medicham or Hoopa is recommended as its teammate to prevent disables and CC.
Charizard
Charizard’s intangible mystique continues to enchant trainers and fans alike. Its fiery attacks and imposing appearance make it the ultimate dragon in the Pokemon universe.
Whether it’s its flamethrower, which fires out a powerful burst of damage, or its wing-flare attack, which creates strong gusts of air that can hit enemies from multiple directions, Charizard has no equal as a combatant. Its speed, strength and ferocity make it an excellent fighter and an important addition to any team.
The most popular form of the dragon-like Pokemon, its draconic design draws inspiration from European folklore. Its large wings feature blue-green undersides and a pair of horn-like structures protrude from its back. It has a long neck with small eyes and slightly raised nostrils. Its snout has two fangs that can be seen when its mouth is closed.
This particular Charizard card features a reverse holofoil treatment that enhances its unique texture. It is one of the rarer cards with this treatment, which adds to its value. Additionally, the frame-breaking image of this Delta Species Charizard flying backward as it shoots fire to keep enemies at bay is breathtaking. This is truly a must-have for any Pokémon collector.
Blastoise
Like its pre-evolutions, Blastoise is a turtle Pokemon that’s not to be trifled with. The difference is that this final evolution of the water-type starters is heavy and bulky enough to crush its opponents under its weight. It also carries around two massive cannons that shoot jets of water out of its shell. The water spouts have enough power to punch holes through steel, and are accurate enough to hit empty cans at more than 160 feet away.
It also has access to a variety of powerful physical moves such as Skull Bash and Rapid Spin, making it one of the best tank options in the early game. This Pokemon can also learn Surf, allowing it to quickly move behind its enemies and push them back with water attacks.
Unlike Charizard or Venusaur, which rely on special attacks and have low physical defenses, Blastoise can be both a tank and a damage dealer with the right setup. A good choice for this is a Bulk Attack build that features Hydro Pump and Water Gun alongside Defog and Slick Spoon. This will make Blastoise a decent option to hold off enemy bosses until it can charge up its Max Guard with Water Gun.
